Project 1265

Location: Glen Iris

Duration: 12 weeks

Budget: $50-75k

Scope: Kitchen, Flooring, Painting

Brief: The brief for this renovation began with creating a kitchen that made better use of the large space. We originally referred to the space as the “disco floor kitchen” because of the large space in the centre. Our main aim was to create a more functional layout that made use of the floor space.

We decided that creating a large L shape island would create better flow between the kitchen and the surrounding areas. This would make use of the floor space, and create a more open space. Visually, we wanted to keep in tying with the style of the house, so decide that a shaker style kitchen would look great.

Black tapware and handles, as well as diamond shape tiles for the splashback, were chosen to tie in with the window features. A soft marble benchtop created the perfect additional feature to the space, ties in with all the other colours.

The existing extended space had a combination of carpet and parquetry, and the clients decided that timber floorboards would create a better flow through the space. The darker boards create the perfect contrast to the white cabinetry, and matches the style of the house.
